Even Our Heroes Are Denied Reproductive Rights

From the BBC: Pregnancy becomes a punishable offense under Major General Anthony Cucolo in the U.S. Army. Evidently sending women home wasn't punishment enough.

Let us not forget that military hospitals are also banned from providing any abortion services (unless in the case of rape or life endangerment, which you have to pay for out of pocket).

Oh, and you can't have sex in a war zone either. Something that I bet  disproportionately affects female soldiers, because they're the ones that can potentially carry the evidence.

So, why civilian American women can benefit (to a certain extent, no thanks to the Hyde amendment) from Roe v. Wade, according to Alternet  it looks like female soldiers are resorting to unsafe methods of abortion. It's extremely depressing that female soldiers are forbidden from the very freedoms they defend.
