Maternal Health Care Crisis

Amnesty International has issued a report on the sorry state of maternal health care in the U.S.

Two to three women die per day due to complications during pregnancy and childbirth. More than half of these deaths could have been prevented. African American women are 4 times as likely to die than white women; this is a rate that hasn't changed in 20 years.

The women of this nation do not have access to affordable reproductive health care, and they are dying because of it. America has the technology and the skill to be the healthiest country in this world. Racism, sexism, classism, and flat out greed are getting in the way of that. Letting proper health care go only to the highest bidder is getting in the way of that. Simple as that.

Maybe we should work on that....
